The
Illinois Slim band is a meat and potatoes kind of band. The band plays BLUES and
almost nothing but the BLUES. This is complemented with tunes such as Little
Richard's "Lucille", Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie" and Al Green's "God Blessed
Our Love". But it always comes back to BLUES. But make no mistake about the
brand of blues; this is toe tapping, hip swinging, boogie blues, with just a
sprinkling of "cry in your coffee" blues.
The band has opened for national recording artist (Alligator Records) Michael Burks. Slim has been asked to appear onstage as a guest vocalist with John Primer (national recording artist and former guitarist for Muddy Waters). In addition, he has made numerous guest appearances with noted regional acts such as BC & The Blues Crew, Crosscut Saw, Mike Dugan & The Blues Mission and Chicago Carl Snyder with Jimmy Lawrence. Festival appearances include the 2002 Easton Blues Jam Finale, the 3rd Annual Downtown Allentown Blues Showcase, the Lehigh Valley Blues Festival, and the Low Country Blues Festival.
